It felt like summer in the Italian hills…
Lemons and oranges tumbling from baskets; Aperol & spritz, and limoncello in the sun. Sax anthems from Ibiza, musicians from Spain. And as you looked into the distance…the endless green of the Derbyshire hills. This is Beth and Dom’s wedding in Barlow Woodseats Hall.
D&B poured their hearts into creating the most incredible experience for their guests.
The elegant styling, the music, the colours. The infectious energy, the citrussy smells. If it weren’t for the English countryside, I could’ve sworn we were abroad.

Tuxedos and champagne, Huntleigh and Jimmy Choo
Our day began slowly, as all the best ones do. Beth with her girls- her bridesmaids, and her mum. Sitting on the bed, laughing and telling stories; nibbling on pastries, and drinking champagne.
Beth looked stunning in the silky-sleek Huntleigh from Jane Hill. She completed the look with natural makeup and Hollywood waves. And a white rose, gypsophila and eucalyptus bouquet.
Her girls helped her into her dress, her necklace, her Jimmy Choos. And with the ceremony calling, she headed into the garden for her wedding in Barlow Woodseats Hall.
A few doors down, the boys were getting ready too. Looking suave in their cream tuxedos, popping champagne in the kitchen, and fiddling with their ties.
And while the rest of the boys were chatting away, Dom found himself a little space. Standing by the window, reading a love letter from Beth.
He read it though again, wiped his eyes, and took a breath. And then went outside to find her…
An outdoor wedding in Barlow Woodseats Hall
“Hello. I’ve waited here for you.”
Gold chairs sat in rows on the sun-warm grass.
A foliage arch curved over the entrance to the garden; lemons and eucalyptus lined the aisle, and olive trees framed the altar. And as the guests fidgeted excitedly in their seats, the sound of saxophone filled the air.
Beth walked down the aisle to a sax cover of Everlong, arm-in-arm with her Mum.
We had a lovely reading from one of Dom’s groomsmen. B&D held hands; exchanged rings, and vows. And as the celebrant made it official, a huge cheer filled the gardens and carried out across the Derbyshire hills.
A little while later, they were kissing in a blizzard of confetti.
Ibiza anthems, and Aperol & spritz
If you’re having your wedding in Barlow Woodseats Hall, you can always have your drinks indoors. But if the weather’s on your side, an outdoor drinks reception is an absolute vibe!
Matt Sax brought the tunes, filling the garden with Ibiza anthems. There was Aperol and spritz, and beers in buckets. The sun was shining, drinks were flowing, the guests were chatting away.
And as everyone started to make their way inside, I snuck off with Beth and Dom for a stroll around the grounds.
They kissed, and laughed; had champagne in the sunshine, and found peacocks on the lawn. And for a little while they got to just…be.
Away from the crowds in those beautiful gardens. Alone for the first time as husband and wife.
Italian-inspired styling for your wedding in Barlow Woodseats Hall
The reception styling was flawless. Elegantly considered, gently colourful, and just beautifully Italian.
White drapes hung from the rustic oak beams. They had watercolour table names from places across Italy, and dried orange place settings with rosemary sprigs.
There were roses and eucalyptus in blue and white vases. And a buttercream cake- with roses, and lemons, and deep-purple plums.
It felt like Tuscany in a Derbyshire barn. And when B&D came in, the energy was electric.
We had speeches, and drinks, and some super-tasty food. And as the sun began to set, we headed outside into the gathering dusk.
Evening vibes and blue hour
Golden hour gets all the hype. Let’s give blue hour a little love!
We took a wander to the end of the garden, chatted away, and reflected on the day. B&D held hands, and kissed, and looked out across the hills. And as the sound of saxophone carried over to us from the hall, we headed back to the party.
And oh man, the party was going off!
Matt Sax bringing all kinds of energy; guests dancing in the courtyard, espresso martinis, and singapore slings.
It was the kind of loved-up, happy vibes you can genuinely feel. Dom and Beth dancing away with their friends- enjoying their first dance before they’d had their First Dance.
A story about a band
Once upon a time, Beth and Dom were on holiday in Spain.
They saw a band in a bar, and got chatting to them afterwards. They talked about them for years; those “do you remember…?” stories of that band in the bar. And when they were planning their wedding, they knew they had to fly them over to play.
And I can totally see why. The pre-party party was awesome. The actual party was fucking insane!
Grandad was in a turkey hat, a feather boa, and glowsticks. There were pineapples, bananas, and a Gregg’s sausage roll. Kicked-off heels, ties on heads, and trousers around knees.
The Masquerade Duo took the energy to a whole new level. And the dancefloor was raging well into the night.

So Larissa (my amazing now-wife) sent them a video back saying YES! We stayed in touch, became good friends, and planned this awesome day of theirs together.
