They wanted to spend the day with each other…
They wanted quality time with their family, and friends. Good memories, good food, and zero fuss! They wanted to get married- just without all the pressure that so often comes with it. This is Stefanie and Katie’s wedding in Sheffield Town Hall.
S&K contacted me in December. And in just 4 months, they’d planned the most beautiful, laid-back, intimate day you could imagine.
The florals, the styling, the atmosphere. The intimate ceremony; the family feast in the Chimney House afterwards. Every choice was intentional, and quietly stylish. And it all came together in the most wonderful way.

The flowers, the dresses, the morning alone
Stef and Katie got ready at home. Just the two of them- enjoying the morning as a couple. And when they arrived at the Town Hall, I loved that they’d already had that time together.
Pressure-free, attention-free. Just a few quiet hours, all to themselves.
And oh man, they both looked incredible! Their natural hair and makeup, their mismatched dresses in flowing silk. Each in their own style; uniquely different, but cohesive all the same.
They completed their looks with matching bouquets from Greystones Flowers. I’d recommended them myself (I used Megan & Vicky for my own wedding). And I was still blown away by how beautiful they were!
Spring florals in delicate pastel shades; peonies, orchids, stock flowers and roses. They were colourful, subtle, and elegantly understated. And just perfect for a spring wedding in Sheffield Town Hall.
An intimate wedding in Sheffield Town Hall
Sheffield Town Hall wedding venue is a beautiful place to say your vows.
The Grade I listed building sits right in the heart of Sheffield- its famous tower, climbing up from the city below.
Step inside, and you find yourself just gawping around you! The entrance hall is epic- with plush red carpets, marble statues, and a marble staircase. It’s 130 years old, and every inch of it feels new.
We gathered in the entrance hall with S&K, and their family and friends. Fiddled-with buttonholes, and catch-ups with Nana. “How have you been?!” hugs, and “I’m so glad you came!”
They said their vows in the Norfolk Room. They hugged and kissed, and signed the register.
And as the celebrant made it official, they kissed again, and a huge applause filled the room.
Sheffield Winter Gardens
A little while later, they were standing outside- laughing in the sunshine in a cloud of confetti.
We had group shots in front of those iconic wrought-iron gates. And then took a stroll through town to the Winter Gardens.
And can I just say? If you’re having your wedding in Sheffield Town Hall, a trip to the Winter Gardens is an absolute must!
The glasshouse is filled with 2500 plants from all over the world. There’s bamboo, and bromeliads, and ponytail palms; it’s colourful, tropical, and deep lush-green. And it’s literally a minute’s walk down the road!
We had a wander around the gardens, and took some relaxed photos with the family. And as the guests began making their way to the reception, I stuck around for a while with S&K.
Photography without the pressure
Stef & Katie said that they didn’t want to spend too long taking couple photos. They didn’t want any pressure, and they didn’t want to be posed.
It wasn’t about the photos. They just wanted to spend some time together.
So I hung back, and gave them space. Focused on movement, and let them be.
They strolled through the gardens, held hands, and chatted away. And with their wedding breakfast waiting, we hopped in a cab to The Chimney House in Kelham Island.
The Chimney House wedding venue
The Chimney House wedding venue is an awesome space (I was actually going to have my own wedding here until they opened their sister venue, The Victoria).
An industrial-chic hideaway of exposed brick walls, pot plants, artwork, and oak. It’s comfortable and stylish, welcoming and warm. And if you fancy a breather, you can step outside, and take a stroll along the River Don.
They’re a registered venue, so you can have your whole day in one place.
And trust me…the food here is insane! They grow a lot of their own ingredients, and source the rest from the seven hills of Sheffield. They have guest chefs, secret suppers, and lavish lunches every week.
For intimate foodie weddings, this has got to be one of the best wedding venues in Sheffield.
A champagne feast, and kisses on the cobbles
When we arrived at the venue, the party was already well underway! Bubbles poured; guests mingling, and chatting away.
I took some impromptu portraits by the river with Stef & Katie. They kissed, and hugged, and had their first dance on the cobbles. And as our stomachs started to rumble, we headed inside for food.
And as we made our way up the stairs, it felt like stepping into a big family meal. Their friends and family all gathered around the table, laughing and joking in the candlelight.
It was just the most wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. Intimate, laid-back, and all about family. Just as they’d hope it would be.
